Found a great website that shows how to desing a website using Adobe Dreamweaver CS4. Its called www.thesitewizard.com.

Last night we registered our website "address". We bought www.f1tigers.com. we hope to use the software in the school to design a website. We have a booklet from the NCTE on web design. So keep an eye on this address in the near future to see our site in operation!!

Drag Tunnel Nearing Completion

Today we met after school to work on our drag tunnel, We designed it using solidworks and we made it in the metalwork room. It is going to work using a vacum cleaner to suck the air out of the tunnel to simulate the air going over the car as it moves forward. There will be a platform where the car will sit and the car will be held with fishing line. On the other end of the fishing line will be a weight, the same weight as the car. This weight will sit on a digital scales, as the car is sucked back the weight will lift and the give a figure for the drag of the car. Here are some pictures of the half finished tunnel.

Back after our Xmas Holidays

Back in school again after our christmas holidays. We Have not had a meeting for a while because we'd the christmas tests. Over the chirstmas we designed the sponsors box and will start cutting these out on the laser cutter from next week. We looked at what to put into the box and bought a few samples of stuff in IKEA over the holidays! Next week in our 1st meeting back we are going to look at the car design again, mostly look at reducing surface friction on the body of the car and then reducing mechanical friction in the wheels.

Working on the sponsorship brouchure

Today we had meeting in school, we discussed the creation of a brouchure for the sponsors. This brouchure outlines what the team are called, what the F1 in Schools challange is all about, why we need sponsorship, what can they do to sponsor us, and what advertising space we will give them if any on the car. Sean and Andy are team leaders on this task.

5 Page Plan Finished - Now into Stand Design

Today we had our first meeting since we finished the 5 page plan. We looked at the stand design for this week. We are going to go away and investigate what shape of stand we will use and what type of lighting it will have, if any at all. Where we put our logo on the stand, where it should be put so everyone can see it, what should be included in the stand.

We also divided out the tasks involved in developing a brouchure that we can include in our pack for potential sponsors. The brouchure is going to be 8 pages in length and have different parts showing what success our school have in the last few years, what the competition is about, why we need sponsorship and what we plan to do with the money we might get.
